Recipe Plums in syrup

A good jar of plums in syrup, just like grandma used to make, with a touch of honey and cinnamon powder, is just the thing. Canned fruit in syrup is so fresh, sweet and delicious!

Ingredients

Number of persons: 6
  • Ripe but firm plums
  • Water
  • Honey
  • Sugar powder
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Preparation

  • Wash the plums, then carefully remove the stems. Cut a small crosswise slit in the end of each plum. Plunge them one by one into a pan of boiling water and leave for 30 seconds, then peel them more easily.
  • In a saucepan, combine the honey, caster sugar and water. Add the lemon zest and cinnamon powder and bring gently to the boil.
  • Pack the jars with plums. Cover with boiling syrup to within 2 cm of the rim so that it completely covers the fruit.
  • Close and heat immediately for 30 minutes at 100°C.
  • Leave the jars of plums to cool before removing.
